Interpolated 22050 Hz (not 44100 Hz), this is due to the fact that the code is.A final comment, due to many questions I've received.Changed the graphic modes for 19xx, now it's more "pixel perfect".In the GUI you can draw the slider to move the list.(older shots are automatically converted) Added Auto Save/Load, that saves/load the game state on exit/entry.Fixed some rowscrolling problems (there are still many errors yet, but I know the cause).Huelsbeck is a legend not just on the C64 but on every single system for which he composed.Another CPS-2 emulator release! Nebula was updated to v1.3, here's what's new: This song shows great examples of both paces.ġ988 is also the year a C64 port of a certain arcade shmup came out, which means this was the year the world was graced with Chris Huelsbeck's god-like work on the R-Type loader music! There's a reason this is one of the first songs people point to when talking about the SID chip's repertoire. One of the things I love about the SID chip is how distinctive it can be both in slower, more moody tones and with faster-paced, upbeat music with strong drum sounds. Zamzara (title screen music) composed by Charles Deenen.

Jeroen Tel is probably my favorite demoscene composer ever, and his genius shows even in this, one of his earlier songs. Hawkeye, composed by Jeroen Tel at the age of 15 (!!) The game doesn't look that great but this music blows me away every time I listen to it. Looked up C64 releases from 1988 and was surprised to see that that year produced some of the best songs to ever grace the SID chip. Here are some classics, not in any particular order: I listed 1988 games by North American release year unless noted otherwise.

Talk about whatever region's 1988 games you want. Release dates varied a lot by region back then. While it was understandable that mostly very young gamers thought that at the time, I'm more disappointed that that the notion still exists on the internet today on message boards and in the media given all the information available. It was an amazing time for home and arcade gaming, and still one of my personal favourite years.Īt the time, it was a common attitude (in some regions anyway) that the NES was the only game in town. 16-bit computers were out of my price range so I had to catch up more with those later. I was lucky enough that year to be a multi-format 8-bit owner and to have a pretty big network of borrowing and trading games.
